Geography - Climate and Weather
Sabah is located near the equator. Therefore, its climate is considered equatorial whereby the temperatures
do not get too hot or too cold. The climate conditions at the highlands differ from the low lying areas. Sabah
can be visited all year round but in it is the hottest during the months of May and September. Also, during this
time, the temperature difference between this period and the rest of the year is minimal. Sabah only has two
seasons. They are the rainy and dry season. It rains throughout Sabah but it is the wettest during the months
of October to February.

There are several shopping destinations in Sabah. The largest among them is the 1Borneo Hypermall. There are
plenty of designer brands and a variety of restaurants in it. It is in 1Borner Hypermall where many events are
being held and draws large crowds to it. Other than the 1Borneo Hypermall is the Warisan Square. There are also
plenty of shops in it which caters to everyone in terms of fashion, entertainment, dining and many more. Centre
Point is also another famous shopping mall where many locals as well as tourist frequently go to. There is also
the Filipino Market where you can buy pearls, accessories, and even sea produce. The prices of the things sold
here can be bargained.
Dining / Restaurant
Sabah is the most renowned for its seafood. Since Sabah depends a lot on sea produce, this is where you find
the freshest seafood at a reasonable price. There are many places to get good seafood but among the famous ones
are the Ocean Seafood Village and Port View Seafood Village. For western food, the Upperstar Grill & Bar is the
place to head to. If you would like to try the best Hainan Chicken Rice, then head towards Wiya Coffee Restaurant.
You will not be disappointed with the food here especially the seafood.
Activities
Sabah is most famous for its islands. Among the frequently visited islands are the Sipadan Island, Mabul
Island, Lankayan Island and Layang Layang Island. These islands are the best for snorkeling and deep sea diving.
They are also great for a getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. Among the islands in Sabah, the most
exclusive would be the Sipadan Island. Another great place to visit and watch marine life is at the Tunku Abdul
Rahman Marine Park. There are several packages for tourists depending on the length of stay at the marine park.
The Borneo Highlands is the place to go if you want to relax at a place with cool climate. Tourists can also go
to Kota Kinabalu where it is the capital city of Sabah. There are many things to do there as it is the most
populated area in Sabah. The Mount Kinabalu is located in the Kinabalu Park which is the first Heritage Site
by Unesco in Malaysia. This is where tourists should go to watch the beauty of nature. Here, you can opt to
hike up the Mount Kinabalu and watch the sunrise. After the long hike, head on over to the Poring Hot Spring
and soak away the tiredness of your feet. It is believe that the waters of the hot spring has healing properties.
Transport
If you have the budget to rent a car while in Sabah, that would be the best option. For cheaper alternative,
you can always take the bus or the taxi.
